Dynamic Ambiens

Ambiens has moved away from its steady state roots. The New Generation Ambiens allows models to be created with dynamic features.

Design Mode

The clear and user friendly interface enables the quick and concise entry of model data. The grid size is adjustable and is not limited to 135 x 80 cells. There is also zoom and pan functionality enabling detail work to be done in large models.

Thermostats are a completely new feature in Ambiens. They permit the user to control wall surface temperature, gain output and inlet temperatures based on the temperature of the cell a thermostat is placed in.

Design Mode: Draw cross-section and set boundary conditions

Simulation Mode

In simulation mode the output from the simulation is displayed as a graphical plot on the screen. The user can select dry bulb, radiant, resultant temperature, air speed, humidity or PPD plots to be displayed. Velocity vectors describing the air flow within the space can also be shown.

The mouse pointer can be used to probe cells within the domain. This feature proves especially useful when giving feedback on the temperature at thermostats and surfaces.

The Scale is adjustable and plotted alongside the model. Time displays the simulated time in minutes that has passed during the simulation.

The results screen is shown on the left.

Simulation: dry bulb, radiant, resultant, velocity vector, air speed, humidity and PPD plots can be displayed

Video Output

The user can record the output displayed to the screen in a video file. The video can be presented and used to demonstrate cooling/heating strategies for the space.
