Environmental Design Solutions Limited (EDSL) was formed in 1989 to commercially
develop Tas Software. EDSL sells Tas software and consultancy services using Tas.
EDSL believe that the mixing of development, consultancy and software support
leads to a focused software product, with quality support available to end users.
Tas
Tas is a complete solution for the thermal simulation of new or existing buildings,
allowing design professionals to compare alternative heating/cooling strategies and
façade design for comfort, equipment sizing, energy demand and Part L2.
Tas is a suite of software products, which simulate the dynamic thermal performance
of buildings and their systems. The main module is Tas Building Designer, which performs
dynamic building simulation with integrated natural and forced airflow. It has 3D
graphics based geometry input that includes a CAD link. Tas Ambiens, is a robust and
simple to use 2D CFD package which produces a cross section of micro climate variation
in a space.
Entering into its fourth decade of development, Tas is now well established in its third
generation. From the first generation developed at Cranfield Institute of technology in
the 70s and early 80s, through to the workstation era and the second generation, with
versions 6.x to 8.x, in the late 80s and early 90s. Tas has now arrived in version 9
with a brand new interface and completely redesigned data system, while retaining the
stability, speed and accuracy of our tried and trusted calculation core. With this history
of commercial use and development, as well as being one of the first dynamic modelling
packages accredited by the DCLG for UK Building Regulations use, Tas is a package with
pedigree, that can be trusted.
