The 3D Modeller

A completely new 3D Modeller has been developed. The new generation modeller, currently called Tas3d, has all the basic functionality of the previous 3D modeller, including DWG import, Lightscape/VIZ (LP) file export with Cymap and IFC capabilities to be implemented soon.

The new Tas3d brings the benefits of a WindowsTM interface, i.e. undo/redo, multiple selections, copy/paste etc. Any size of building may be input with the limit on the number of zones, walls, spaces etc. determined only by the resources of the PC running the software.

In this demo a single storey building with pitched roof is created. A DWG file is the starting point for the 3D model. This will be imported and act as the template for the location of walls, windows and roof etc.

All the processes are covered, from entering the geometry, through to subdivision into analysis zones, shading calculations and export of data to the simulation program.

One feature that the Flash animation technology cannot capture very well is the ‘dynamic dimensioning’ implemented in the software. This facility continually shows dimensions to adjacent wall points during any drawing/moving process. When drawing a wall the internal and external lengths are continually updated. When moving a window the distances to the neighbouring walls are shown and updated as the window moves. This makes input of a building from a sketch, or very basic drawing much easier, when a DWG file is not available.
