Tas Building Designer Part L2 2006 user case study

Oxford Biochemistry
A study of atria annual temperature profiles, energy analysis, Part L2 compliance and daylighting savings

Lighting energy reduction due to daylight saving controls

Building specification

U values to Part L2 standard

Glazing: clear low E double glazing

Atria heat gains:

            12W/m2 lighting (400 lux)

            6W/m2 occupants

            2.5W/m2 small power

Systems specification

            Atria is naturally ventilated.

All other areas conditioned and supplied with varying fresh air rates with average fan SFP of 2.2W/l/s.

3 off high efficiency condensing gas

Cooling COP 3.13 peak and 5.5 seasonal

Variable speed pumping.

Heat recovery 50%

Cumulative frequency of yearly resultant temperature of atria level 1

Carbon emissions 28.6% better than notional building.

Therefore would comply with 2006 Part L2
