The course will demonstrate to the attendees how to use Tas Building Designer to show compliance with Part L2a regulations regarding CO2 emissions and solar overheating.

 

The course is a pre-requisite for the BRE’s Competent Persons Scheme for Tas and for CIBSE’s Low Carbon Consultant (Simulation) scheme.

 

Training Course Content

 

On completing the one day course, attendees will know how to:  

  • Apply the Part L2 zoning strategy to a Tas model.

  • Use the NCM activities database and CIBSE weather data in your design model.

  • Set up different lighting options in your design model such as automatic presence detection and photocell daylight control.

  • Create a notional model based on your design model.

  • Set up the Part L2 macro to model different types of air conditioning systems such as fancoil and VRV.

  • Model renewable energy systems such as biomass boilers and CHP.

  • Interpret the output data including the BRUKL document.

  • Set up Tas to model naturally ventilated buildings for Part L2a CO2 emissions calculations.

  • Set up Tas to model mechanically ventilated buildings for Part L2a CO2 emissions calculations.

  • Check for solar overheating to ensure compliance with CIBSE recommendations.

  • Show compliance with Building Bulletin 101: Ventilation in School Buildings.

  • Create the Reference and Typical building used in the EPC calculations.

  • Use the Plant Sizing and Simulation macro to produce an Energy Performance Certificate.
