Zone Groups

The Zone Group facility provides a means of defining commonly occurring groups of zones as an aid to rapid zone selection when editing input data or viewing output.

On the Tree View, click on the '+' symbol on the left of "Simulation Data", and then click on the '+' symbol by the Zone Groups folder to show a list of zone groups. The group types will be from the TBD, they will include HVAC Groups, Output Groups, Zone Groups, and Zone Sets (these will be from the T3D), as well as any other groups which you've added in the Results Viewer.

When you click on a zone group on the Tree View, the following information will be shown on the right-hand side:

Name

The name of the zone group, the name can have alphanumeric characters and spaces.

Description

You can enter detailed information about the zone group.

There is also a table which lists the zones that are members of this zone group. The column headers are 'No.' (which is short for 'Zone Number'), 'Name', and 'Description'.

No.

Tas gives each zone a number automatically. This number is sometimes used in automatic control functions and in error messages. The user cannot edit this value.

Name

The name of the zone.

Description

Details about the zone.

The Zone Groups folder will contain zone groups which were created in the Building Simulator, as well as any that you added in the Results Viewer. The zone group name and description can be edited, and the zone group can be deleted.

To create a new zone group, right-click on the 'Zone Groups' folder, and then select 'Zone Groups' on the context menu. To change the name of a zone group, left click on its icon and then left click again, type in a new name and press <Return>.

To move a single zone into a zone group, left-click on the '+' by the 'Zones' folder to show all of the zones, and then point the mouse cursor over the appropriate zone icon in the Tree View. Hold down the left mouse button, move the cursor to the appropriate zones table within the zone group, and then release the left mouse button.
