Sun Positions

• The sun position for the purposes of both shading and simulation is calculated half-way through the hour – i.e. for hour 1, the sun position for 00:30 is used.

• The shading sun (the smaller displayed sun, only visible if Show shading sun position is checked) will count as below the horizon if it is not higher than 2° - this is the threshold angle used by the 3D Modeller.

• For direct solar radiation to hit a surface, both sun positions must be above the ‘hedge’ –  2.5° (or 0.2° if the building’s Terrain Type is Flat Profile).
• The displayed sun (or the larger displayed sun if Show shading sun position is checked) will count as below the horizon if either sun position is below the hedge, and so will be displayed/coloured accordingly.
