Zone Groups (HDD)

Expand the Heating Design Data folder, and then expand the relevant Heating Design Day (the number of Heating Design Days will be determined by how many you added in the Building Simulator prior to simulation). You will see on the Tree View a Zone Groups folder, a Zones folder, and a link to a page called 'Performance Summary'. This topic describes the screen which is visible when you expand the Zone Groups folder and then click on a zone group within this folder.

The Zone Group facility provides a means of defining commonly occurring groups of zones as an aid to rapid zone selection when editing input data or viewing output.

Each zone group within the Heating Design Data | Zone Groups folder will display the following information:

Name

The name of the zone group, the name can have alphanumeric characters and spaces.

Description

You can enter detailed information about the zone group (optional).

The table shown below the Name and Description fields will list the zones that are members of this zone group. The column headers are No. (which is short for 'Zone Number'), Name, and Description.

No.

Tas gives each zone a number automatically. This number is sometimes used in control functions and in error messages. The user cannot edit this value.

Name

The name of the zone.

Description

Details about the zone.

The Zone Groups folder for the Heating Design Day will contain zone groups which were created in the Tas Building Simulator, as well as those which you've added in the Results Viewer. The zone group name and description can be edited, and the zone group can be deleted.

To create a new zone group, right click on the 'Zones Groups' folder and choose 'Zone Groups' from the drop down list. To change the name of a zone group, left click on its icon and then left click again, type in a new name and press <Return>.

If you only want to move one zone into a zone group there is a short cut. Left click on the '+' by the 'Zones' folder to reveal all the zones. Point the mouse cursor over the appropriate zone icon in the Tree View, hold down the left mouse button, move the cursor to the appropriate zones table within the zone group, and then release the left mouse button.
