EPC Consultancy

Blue Circular Building

EDSL’s Consultancy department is extremely well established with decades of experience. Leading the team is the first registered level 5 energy assessor in the UK, Paul Bacon.

As the team work directly for EDSL alongside the developers of Tas they are experts in its features and usage and have had a direct impact in the development of the software. The team are responsible for lodging over 1000 EPCs on the behalf of EDSL.

Due to the experience gained from working on such a range of different building designs the team is adept at swiftly modelling even the less common systems, such as displacement ventilation and FATVAV (Fan Assisted Variable Air Volume) systems for the purpose of EPC assessments.

With a great understanding of the assessment methodology and the knowlegde gained from adjustments made to previous building designs, areas of the design where the greatest and most economic improvements can be made can be quickly identified. The potential for improving these identified areas can be investigated with ease by tweaking the model and outputting updated results.

As Tas is a DSM (Dynamic Simulation Model) tool the results it produces are often more accurate than that of a standard SBEM assessment that may not be able to take into account some of the features of a building’s design and services like Tas can.

A range of EPC services are offered, whether a model simply needs checking and lodging on behalf of another Tas modeller or whether a client wants a building design tested and would like advice on how to improve the buildings EPC rating the Consultancy team is happy to help

If a model is put together by the consultancy team and the client would like to run some iterations we are happy to provide them with the Tas files we have worked on for them to do this themselves with their own Tas licence. This can save our clients money when investigating the effects that certain changes in design will have on the results.

The consultancy department has level 5 energy assessors that are registered to lodge EPCs in England, Wales and Scotland.

If you would like any further information on the consultancy services we offer or would like to request a quote please feel free to use our website mailer to contact the department or email paul directly at Paul@edsl.net
